Software may accelerate a draft. A human owns every published sentence.
What we permit
The newsroom may use AI tools to organize public documents, identify questions, format structured data, test code and prepare draft language. AI does not receive a byline, independently publish, invent quotes or replace review of the underlying source.
Every AI-assisted article remains labeled DRAFT until Dennis Ashley or a designated human editor checks the claims, links, dates, names, bill numbers and quoted language against primary sources.
What we do not permit
We do not publish fabricated scenes, composite people, synthetic quotations or undisclosed altered documentary images. We do not use AI output as evidence. Corrections follow the same public policy regardless of how an error entered a draft.
